2011 Mashable Media Summit - In our eyes.

VC, circled in red, in attendance at the 2011 Mashable Media Summit.
On Friday November 4th, our eMarketing Strategist (Véronique_code name: VC) , had the pleasure of attending the 2011 Mashable Media Summit in New York City.

In a quick click, if you don’t know what the Mashable Media Summit is, here goes: it was a conference attended by a group of dominant space-age species exploring how media-centric technology has forever changed our fields.

The house, the Times Center, was packed with over 360 attendants tweeting away and taking notes from tablets. On deck were some real rock stars from Facebook, Foursquare, Reuters, The New York Times, Buddy Media, Esquire, Gilt Group, etc, etc, etc… From Véronique’s own words: “My brain felt like a blank hard drive, downloading from the thoughts evoked by some of the most brilliant minds in our field.”

When asked who her top 2 presenters/sessions were, VC said:

1-    The Importance of Being Awesome by Faris Yakob, Chief Innovation Officer at MDC Partners/KBS+P, who she mimicked as being a total character. He was the presenter right after lunch. You know? That slump lot when everyone in attendance has the itis. “Awesome and unconventional” she furthers… a positively wacky and brilliant presentation summing up technology as "stuff that doesn't work yet" but soon to be the norm.

2-    Like a Virgin — The Ultimate User Experience  by Tor Myhren, President of Grey New York, who also used a positively deranged analogy to highlight how much social media is changing the way we communicate. Myhren told the participants he, as a boy, lost his virginity at 14 in a relationship that started over the land line. Flash forward to 2011, boys and girls still want to meet…but only this time it fist happens on Facebook with all the poking, sexting and the like. Demonstrating how "As technology changes, the soul of man (and his impulses) do not."

As for the day’s highlights, rather than rehashing what is already on the intrawebs, we invite you to check our Twitter timeline, or just do a Twitter search with the conference’s hashtag #MediaSummit. And since true success is knowledge applied…we look forward to applying ALL of that newly downloaded knowledge to the benefit of our clients. =)

PG, over and out.

Love What You Do

Today is fly-me-to-the-moon day =) more commercially known as Valentine’s Day (Saint Valentine's day for you purists out there). The day when, worldwide, people express their love towards each other - and usually have to buy either chocolate, a card or a diamond in doing so. Some here at the agency feel it's more Single Awareness Day. But that’s another story.

On this February 14th, no chocolate or roses required (although welcomed)... Coupled-up or not, we are celebrating! Celebrating our LOVE for work. LOVE WHAT YOU DO, and everything else will fall into place. You see, if someone started working at 21 and retired at 65 (working a full-time schedule) that person would have worked close to 100,000 hours!

These 100,000 hours can either be pure punishment, or with a little bit of LOVE, they can be your time-to-shine, working your magic in this great field of infinite possibilities. Take a daily dose of LOVE WHAT YOU DO, and see how little miracles happen here and there; Try it…See how the whole world and events will seem to conjugate to get you closer to your dreams; Even unfortunate events will start to look like life lessons urging you to do more, better.

See, as advertisers, it's up to us to shape how people perceive brands, ideas, events...and ultimately we create the imagery of what an idyllic life is - or should be.

So to everyone out there, LOVE WHAT YOU DO. Only then will you be of value to society (you might even start loving Mondays).

Happy Valentine’s Day! We love you too.

Brand Bowl

We're keeping today's post short and simple.

Who cares who won Superbowl XLV! Right?
After all, what could possibly be the true hidden raison-d'être of it all...if not for the ads. Agreed?

Here are some great links, to view it all, to talk about it all, and to see what others thought of it all...

Here are a few of our favorites...

The Resolution Conundrum

So, today we start the third week of 2011. To think that just three weeks ago, (don’t pretend like you didn't do this too) I was listing the countless things I wanted to accomplish, or do better, next year. The to-do-list, and in my case, the not-to-do-list. Don't worry, I am not going to share my resolutions with you here, but rather attempt in this post to explain the whole...hmm hmm...Resolution Conundrum.

We all know Good Resolutions help carve a direction putting the rudder in the right place. Technically it is believed that a Good Resolution first fires up in the thought, and if you are serious and tenacious about it, that thought takes form with action. Then, when that action is repeated insistently enough, it becomes a habit (a good one hopefully.)

Every day comes with new changes, and if there’s a label out there that creative people are nuts... well, you can blame it on the fact that for us creatives, change is the only constant. Our minds are formatted to accommodate, even embrace, and welcome change. We are right-brained people, and it is in there, in the right brain that the creative magic happens. Where fantasy has no limits and only where new ideas and innovations can take life. So to all of you creative souls out there, to all of our counterparts across the globe, the year is still young! Take a pen and a notepad and write them down! Remember though only a Good Resolution APPLIED can bring about change, and it is the sum of our habits that ultimately shape our character.

Un pour tous ... Tous pour Un.

If you understand French, our 2011 wishes are self-explanatory and clear.

If French is not your forte, "Un pour tous ... Tous pour Un" is the direct translation of "All for one, and one for all." Then, we ask what if, followed by a quote by Albert Camus.

What if... there were no individual destinies, but rather a collective one...

Again, here's to a brighter 2011.

Happy Holidays and GOODBYE to 2010

So as scheduled, we had our little holiday party at the office on Friday. Although our intention was to share pictures on the blog with you all, we decided that maybe we shouldn’t…

In fact, in memory of those who have left us in 2010, before we pop that champagne, let us observe a minute of silence…

(One minute later)

Hi Again.

So, the real purpose of this blog entry is to wish all of our dear readers happy holidays. So to you, the guy or gal reading this from his or her iPad, Voilà BlackBerry, laptop or whatever gizmo, Happy Holidays from all of us at PubliGestion! May 2011 be blessed with lots of love and good surprises! In fact, never forget to open-up your aperture, letting lots of light in, and may the flow of abundance spoil you, both intellectually and “Dollarlly” – should we say “Eurolly”? Thank you so much for your readership, your comments, and your professional advice. Our blog these past few months has grown so much both in readership quantity and quality. We can feel the improvement in our bones. Now now, some of you who are thinking, “but wait, nobody ever comments” --- You’re right, no one comments on the blog, which we also find weird, but we get BBMs, Facebook messages and emails… even drop by’s… yup! So, thank YOU, thank YOU!

Did we say thank you?

Orevwa 2010! This year was a challenging one to say the least, and we’re glad it’s almost over. We’re welcoming 2011 with big-wide-open-arms and a giant smile. We can’t wait for what it has in store for us as a team and as individuals, but most importantly, we are ready. In our collective mind, we are already re-formatting our brain with the new 2011 OS. It is going to be the best year since the printing press was invented.

So, let’s toast some champagne, or some sparkling grape juice if you don’t drink, to a wonderful new year ahead.

(Cheers!)
